Post Modern Prayers Quick Links: 1960s 1970s 1980s-1990s

The 1960s were tumultuous years by any standard. Most of the images are fairly iconic. For instance, the Andy Warhol Campbell soup can digitally integrated with US forces fighting in Viet Nam during the Tet offensive representing what John Lennon’s lyrics in the song Give peace a chance should be relatively straight forward. Lennon’s song Imagine represented by merged digital images from fighting during the war in Viet Nam might not be. Perhaps the picture is more easily understood if you look at John Lennon’s words and then view the artwork.

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
