The birth of a bell. The stages of making a cathedral sized bell


The base form, which will end up as the interior of the finished bell, is fabricated.

Symmetry of form double checked.	Inscription detailing added for false bell (see note at bottom of page).

False bell form interior.	False bell form lifted onto base.	The bell is poured upside down.

Forms removed and the bell begins cleanup.		Artisan craftsman finish inscriptions.

Bell is grinded and polished.	The frequency is checked.	Church blesses bell in village celebration.

Note from above. The exterior of the cast bell is created by making a false bell which has a negative image of the inscriptions on its interior wall.
